Understanding the financial implications of different deal structures is greatly enhanced through rigorous analysis of forecasts and risks. This two day course will give participants a firm grounding in the principles and practice of financial valuation. Substantial use is made of practical examples where participants will construct their own models around a case study.
The course is run jointly by Roger Davies and Catharine Staughton and will cover the following issues:
- Basic financial concepts: Key elements of a balance sheet, profit and loss account and cash flow.Financial performance ratios.Valuation tools.
- Building the financial model: How to structure a financial model.
- Market and sales forecasting: How to forecast sales – market share estimates and the impact of competitor activity.
- Profit and Loss and Cash Flow: Estimating the variable inputs to construct a useable forecast.
- Risk and sensitivity analysis: What factors have most effect on the value of a deal? How can we reduce risk?
